Position Overview

The Chief Information Officer (CIO) reports to the President and leads all aspects of the organization's information technology, software, systems, security, and data analytics. This encompasses internal IT, customer-facing technology, and partnership initiatives. The CIO ensures technology systems are stable, accessible, and secure for the staff and end users; continually improves productivity; optimizes technology; builds and manages a quality information technology team; focuses on security and data management; provides visible leadership within the organization; leads, coaches and develops current and future leaders; manages the department budget effectively; works with vendors to create effective and efficient partnerships; and provides advice and information to the President and Board as they implement their respective leadership and governance responsibilities. The CIO is someone who has a mix of both broad technology strategy and the ability to deep-dive into customer, business, and architectural challenges.

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Work with the senior team to provide input and insight regarding how to continue to evolve and grow and scale the business while improving the client experience, both broadly and with specific focus on technology, data, software, and information systems.
  • Drive IT strategy to enable business growth and a best-in-class client experience leading the effort as we build the next generation of our online platform.
  • Develop an annual organizational technology plan in tandem with the annual budget process.
  • Develop and implement technology solutions to achieve organizational goals.
  • Serve as a member of the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Evolve and accelerate initiatives in data science, artificial intelligence (Al) and machine learning (ML) to drive new platform and services development and enhance the client experience.  
  • Lead the integration strategy and implementation with third-party software providers.
  • Provide overall management and direction for system/network infrastructure, business systems, client support systems, and internal applications.
  • Establish and maintain technical standards for business, communications, and information systems.
  • Hire, lead and manage all technology-related staff.
  • Partner with third-party IT and technology providers to augment resources as appropriate. Facilitate sourcing, negotiating with and managing external vendors.
  • Maintain and update current customer data security procedures.
  • Oversee an annual audit of technology systems and tools for security, accessibility, and redundancy.

Minimal Qualifications

  • 20+ years' broad experience in all aspects of technology, software, infrastructure, and data analytics.
  • 10+ years of experience in IT leadership positions.
  • 10+ years of IT strategic planning and budget management experience.
  • 10+ years of project planning and implementation experience.
  • Experience visioning, leading and managing transformational and digital change.
  • Experience working in a regulated industry.
  • Experience working in a rapidly growing organization.
  • Experience in process analysis, design, and continual improvement.
  • Vendor management experience, including vendor contract negotiations.
  • Experience with eCommerce, SaaS or similar technology platforms highly desired.
  • Nonprofit experience is a plus

Physical Demands

This position regularly requires standing, sitting, manual dexterity, typing, climbing, walking, lifting, grasping, speaking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions. 

 

Work Environment

This position is in an office with very limited exposure to any outside fumes, odors, or weather. Executive managers have a flexible work schedule. Hours may at times be long and irregular. The work culture is professional, collaborative, and strives to reflect the organizations two core values.
