Position Overview

Advise and mentor OSL Coordinators in the development, improvement and execution of all department projects including State Wide Professional Learning Initiative, Measures of Academic Progress (MAP assessments), Teaching and Learning Exchange and any content-specific professional development initiatives. The Sr. Coordinator will develop and execute an onboarding process for OSL Coordinators, give sustained support and mentor them in all aspects of department work.  The Sr. Coordinator of Exceptional Student Education will provide support and expertise to departments and schools serving Gardiner Scholarship students as well collaborate with others within the organization in order to support the organization's mission.  The Sr. Coordinator will report to an OSL Director. This is a remote position located in the Sarasota/Fort Myers area.

Essential Functions

  • Fulfill the roles and responsibilities of a Coordinator

  • Manage the southwest region of FTC and Gardiner schools that includes but is not limited to:

    Communication with school leaders

    Recruitment of schools in the Success Partners Network

    Facilitating the professional learning opportunities and follow-up support through school visits

    Ongoing school visits including recruitment, promotional and support

    Increasing the school participation in MAP

  • Build relationships and demonstrate ongoing collaboration and coordination with SUFS schools and parents

  • Develop and execute an onboarding process for new OSL coordinators

  • Support current OSL coordinators in their role as liaison between OSL and their assigned schools

  • Collaborate with the OSL Implementation Specialist to develop and facilitate personalized Teaching & Learning Exchange (TLE) trainings to SUFS affiliated schools

  • Develop training curriculum for OSL initiatives specific to the needs of exceptional students and their families and any other content-specific professional development initiatives

  • Develop and facilitate State Wide Professional Learning modules for private school educators

  • Contribute success stories for the monthly teacher and administrator newsletters

  • Present at national, state, and local conferences to disseminate information about department initiatives and for the recruitment of schools (e.g., Alabama Conference, FLOCS, etc.)

  • Actively participate in scheduled OSL team retreats for the development of new initiatives and refinement of current initiatives

  • Assist senior leadership on new initiatives, and serve as a resource for other SUFS staff, as needed

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in education.   Master's degree with documented experiences delivering professional development, preferred.  A minimum of five years of related work experience in Exceptional Student Education experience as both teacher and administrator.  Subject matter expert in exceptional student education.  Must be computer literate (MS Word, Power Point, Excel).  Ability to travel.

Physical Demands

Work Environment

This position is will be a remote position. as well as some exposure to outside weather conditions.  

Work will require weekly traveling to a cohort of regional schools as well as some statewide travel.

Evening trainings or events may be necessary to meet the needs of schools within assigned region.
