Position Overview

Responsible for administering the day-to-day Human Resources activities of the organization, including ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.  It demands a high degree of adaptability and flexibility in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment, as well as a high level of confidentiality and integrity.  This position reports to the Human Resources Manager. 

Essential Functions

  • Administers various human resources plans and procedures for all company personnel; prepares and maintains employee handbook, and policies and procedures manual.
  • Maintains Human Resource Information System records and compiles reports from database.
  • Responsible for New Employee Orientation consisting of going over handbook, policies employee benefits, etc. 
  • Responsible for enrollment, claims resolution, change reporting, reviewing of monthly invoices for payment, working with insurance broker and/or other third party business partners. 
  • Conducts recruitment effort for all exempt and nonexempt personnel, students/interns, and temporary employees.  Posting of open positions, scheduling interviews, conducting background checks, completing/filing of new hire paperwork, etc. 
  • Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.
  • Partners with other departments on special events for staff by coordinating committees and schedules, staying within budget.
  • Keeps informed of the latest issues and trends in HR through networking, professional membership in related organizations and select journal readership.

Minimum Qualifications

An Associate's degree. One (1) to three (3) years of Human Resources experience or any similar combination of related education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Considerable knowledge of principles and practices of personnel administration.
  • Proficiency in using a variety of computer software applications, especially Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of employment laws. 
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines; excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

This position is an office environment with very limited exposure to any outside fumes, odors, heat and/or weather conditions.
